How to Green Up your Move
There is nothing to say that we can’t be environmentally aware when we are packing and moving our belongings. Packing materials like bubble wrap, masking tape etc. creates a lot of non biodegradable waste. This is NOT good. So, let’s look at some of the ways that we can “up our green” when it comes to packing and moving.
Firstly, we need to keep the accumulation of unwanted items to a minimum. The less we collect, the less we throw away. Another thing you must remember not to store is food. We tend to throw away food before a move so here is another way that we can reduce waste. Start finishing up the food in your refrigerator. Even canned foods should be added to this list.
Reusing packing supplies is another good step in the right direction. You can always go to your local grocery store and buy used boxes and other packing material. Reinforce the bottom of the box and line the inside with used or old news paper if you prefer and you are good to go. You can also use old suit cases and blankets to secure fragile items for the move.
Look around your house and you WILL find innovative ways to pack your things without spending too much on packing materials that lead to adding on to the already spiking non biodegradable waste.
