How to Conduct a Move in Moveout Cleaning
The packing is done and JUST as you try to put your feet up, the alarm bells go off in your head and they all scream – CLEAN!!!!
Yup, it’s true, there is no way around this one, and it’s just got to be done. The great news is that when you clean your new place, you move into a clean home. The kind of bad news is that once you are done packing, you really need to clean up your old place too. Well, this is you being courteous towards the next owners of these premises.
So here’s your savior; make a cleaning checklist, just like your packing checklist. Here’s the great part; this checklist works for your old home as well as your new home! Go through the house once you are done packing and list out all the areas that need to be cleaned. For your new home, you need to go through the house BEFORE you move your stuff in. You will be reduced to tears if you have to deal with tons of boxes ON TOP of your cleaning.
You will be surprised to see how much of dirt and grime gets collected even though you clean regularly. Once this list is made (of both places), you will have a good idea of what cleaning equipment and accessories are required. So off to the shops!
Start cleaning in an organized manner. Decide on what room you want to start with and what room you want to end with. It is always a good idea though, to leave carpeted floors to the last because carpets take a while to dry and the last thing you need is for damp carpets to pick up more dirt!
Here’s something to remember about moving into your new place after you have cleaned it, move your stuff into the rooms that don’t have carpets first. This way, you make sure that the carpets are completely dry before you place your furniture.
